How to Clean Epoxy Resin Countertops?

Use household products, such as mild soap and water, or lemon, orange or citrus oil with 50% vinegar and 50% water solution. You can also use Crystal Simple Green to clean surfaces using a soft cloth. Difficult spots can be cleaned with acetone if permitted. Then, wipe dry with a clean soft cloth to remove all cleaning residues and avoid water spotting.

It is better to soak caked-on drips or stains with cleaning materials rather than scrubbing.

Residues on the surface due to dragging metals across the surface (known as marring) can be removed by scrubbing with a soft cloth and a soap and water mixture. Difficult cases may require acetone or even use of a light duty Scotchbrite Pad (soaked in fluid, never dry). Steam cleaning is another alternative for removing organic compound stains.

A small amount of Murphys Oil or finish oil (mineral oil) can be applied using a clean rag to shine the surface. Buff with a chamois cloth.

We do not recommend sanding the work surface itself as this is a molded product, which has a matte finish by design and is very difficult to duplicate using sandpaper.

Lab Countertops

Epoxy resin lab countertops are the most widely used laboratory worksurface. Countertops are fabricated to custom dimensions, including machined fixture cutouts.

Most laboratories prefer to use epoxy resin countertops because this material performs highly in the lab environment and is cost effective to fabricate. Epoxy resin has outstanding chemical resistance, excellent physical properties, and good heat and flame resistance, making it an ideal material for the majority of lab applications. Lab countertops are fabricated to custom dimensions and can be machined with cutouts and holes to accommodate items such as sinks and service fixtures. At Lab Fixtures, we provide custom chemical resistantepoxy resin countertops, short turnaround times, and highly competitive prices.

If your lab has unique requirements which call for an alternative countertop material such as phenolic resin or stainless steel, please give us a call. We supply those as well.

Epoxy resin tops are available in the following thicknesses:

The largest available single epoxy resin piece is 98 long x 72 wide. Multiple pieces of epoxy resin can be seamed together in the field using epoxy adhesive in order to create longer or wider countertop assemblies.

Splash guards or backsplashes, are shipped as loose pieces, to be applied in the field during installation. Each order includes epoxy adhesive to affix the splash material. Splash guards are typically 4 high, but can be fabricated to any height. Splash thickness can either match the thickness of the countertops, or can be 3/4 thick regardless of countertop thickness.

Diamond tooling is used to fabricate and machine epoxy resin directly in our factories, rather than leaving the fabrication to be done by our customers in the field. The result is our customers receive a product that is ready to install and more cost effective than in-field fabrication.

The two edge finishes available for epoxy resin countertops are beveled and radius. Edge finishing is included in the price of countertops; there are no upcharges for either finish.
